FMGR - File Manager for Psion S3 This package contains the following files:- FMGR.OPL Source program FMGR.OPO File Manager translated for Psion S3a FMGR.TXT This document, as text. INTRODUCTION FMGR is a simple file manager for the Psion S3a which can easily be modified to work on the S3. It is based on FindFile which I made available last year. FMGR finds files given part of the file specification and displays a list of all files found. The list can be on the screen, on the printer, or both. The list can be displayed with, or without file details. If file details are requested then the file size, file date and time, and the flags (Archive, Read-Only, Hidden, System) are displayed. Less lines are displayed in this mode because two lines per file are used. At the end of each screen full of output, files listed on that particular screen can be copied or deleted. RUNNING THE PROGRAM From the System screen, under the OPL program icon, select FMGR. The initial dialog contains 4 fields as follows:- File Mask Enter as much of the file name as you know. E.g. *.WRD or B:\TEMP\* or A:* or A:\* Where parts of the file spec are missing then FMGR will insert the matching system defaults BUT AT LEAST PART OF THE FILE NAME MUST BE GIVEN EVEN IF IT IS ONLY *. The default path will be supplied by OPL as \OPD. Show Properties Yes or No - stipulates whether the full file size and attribute information is to be displayed. The default is No. If this is set to Yes, then only half as many lines will be displayed. Output to Display or Printer. Controls the destination of the output. Print device Default: PAR:A. This is only used if Output to Printer is selected. It must be a valid device or file specification (so the output can be routed to a file if required). Once the dialog has been completed, the program finds all matching files and either prints them or displays them. If the list is being printed, then at the bottom of each screenful a prompt is displayed:- CMD, Valid responses to this are as follows:- Esc Quits and returns to the initial dialog. C, Copies the specified files to the specified path (which must end in a \). D Deletes the specified files. A dialog is displayed:- Delete files No!, All Specified, One By One Press Esc (No!) to cancel the delete request. Press Space (One By One) to be prompted for each file as it is deleted. Press Enter (All Spec'd) to go ahead and delete the specified files without further prompting. If prompting is requested, then for each file a dialog will be displayed:- Delete file:- Press Esc (Quit) to stop the deletion process. Press Space (Yes) to delete this file and display the name of the next one. Press Enter (No) to miss out this file and go on to the next one. Help key Displays a help message for the above. Anything else continues with the next page of output. The must take the form of | [,] The numbers and ranges must increase numerically. Examples:- D1,3,5-7,9 D1-4,7-9 C1,2,3 ,A:\TEMP\ C5,B:\OPL\TEMP\ After Deleting or Copying, the program continues to display the next page full of files. At the end of the list, the total size of all matching files is displayed. If no matching files are found then a message to that effect is displayed. If an invalid file spec is entered then the program abends. MODIFYING FOR THE S3 If this program is to be run on the S3 then it must be modified and retranslated as follows:- Find the line: slim%=16 Change the value (16) for the number of available lines on your screen. That's it. DISCLAIMER Have fun; I use it all the time; but I accept no responsiblity for it and do not guarantee to maintain it. Feel free to modify it, give it away to your friends, and do with it what you will, but don't sell it (unless you send me a cut ). Regards Steve 100014,1312
